How to Remove the Quick Edit Tool or Screwdriver icon from Blogger?

Filed Under :

Hi bloggy readers,
The quick edit element on Blogger is one of the great things from Blogger service, which can be so useful on editing our blog element/widget without entering to the Page Element mode. This quick edit tool can help us a lot when we want to edit our widget directly from our blog's home page, so now we don't need to bother ourselves to go to Design/Layout and Page Element in order to edit our blog elements.

On Blogger blog, the quick edit tool will be displayed as a screwdriver and pliers icon cross below.

However, that screwdriver icon of quick edit button can be so annoying because it looks bad when we want to preview our edited template, or directly to our blog. That's why, i strongly suggest you to remove that quick edit icon from your blog from now on. Okay, in this post, let's discuss about how to remove the quick edit icon on blogger.

1. Sign in to Blogger.com
Go to Blogger.com and log in to your own Blogger account using your username and password.

2. Go to Layout and then Edit HTML
In the Dashboard page, press the Layout/Design button on your chosen blog. After landing to the Layout/Design tab, you will be given the 3 basic configurations, such as Page Element, Edit HTML and Template Designer. Now press the sub-tab called Edit HTML and start editing your template with bunch of CSS and HTML codes.

3. Find the code
By pressing Ctrl + F at the same time, you will enter the search mode. In the search form, type this code below:
]]></b:skin>

Anyway, before doing any kind of customization, i strongly suggest you to save your current template so that later, you don't need to worry anymore if you did something wrong with the template. Now click at the link Download Full Template.

After clicking the Download Full Template link, you will be prompted with the choice about where you are gonna put the .xml file in your Computer, just put it in the Desktop to make it faster if later you want to switch back to the current template.

3. Adding the screwdriver icon remover code
Now, in order to banish the screwdriver icon from our blog, what you need to do is copy this code below:
.quickedit{
display:none;
}

4. Paste the remover code
Now, paste the CSS on number 3 above before the code ]]></b:skin>

5. Save the change
By pressing the Save Template button, you can now save the change you've just made on your template.

Once you press the Save Template button, the quick edit tool or screwdriver icon will be automatically removed from your blog pages. To see the result of how it works, just go straightly to your blog's homepage, and as you can see, that screwdriver icon on your blog has been erased from your blog. If in the future, you want that quick edit icon back, you can simply remove the CSS on number 3 above from your blog template.

Okay, that's it for now about removing quick edit or screwdriver icon from Blogger. If you have something to ask to me, just type your question on the comment section below and i'll try my best to give you the answer sooner.

I'm Out!!
