How to Hide Body Content and Only Show Blogger Post Title on Archive or Label Pages?

Filed Under : , ,

Hi bloggy readers,
Every time we visit the archive page, it always takes a lot of time to load the page. Well, that's because by pressing the exact month of the blog archive widget, we will enter the new page contains with blogger post title in that exact month along with the whole body content of blog articles, and thus, will make it longer to load the page. It happens also on the label page. Every time we press one of the labels from our blog post, the result is just the same like in the blog archive page, it will load all the body content of articles, not just the blogger post title.

But if you can't catch the meaning of what i am talking about in this post, i want you to demonstrate it by yourself. Now pick one of the months on your blog archive widget. And then, wait for the widget to process your request. What do you think? Is it lame, right? Yeah, i bet. All the body content of our posts along with the blogger post title will appear in the page.

So the question is simple, how to hide the body content of blog article when we load the archive page, or label page, and only show only the blogger post title? So the answer to that question will appear like the picture below.

Interested to apply this article? Let's get it started then.

1.Login to Blogger
Now go to Blogger.com and log in to your Blogger account using your username and password you've already registered at the first time. By putting the correct username and password, you will be automatically brought to the new page called Dashboard or Control Panel of your blog.

2.Go To Layout/Design
In the Dashboard page, pick one of your blog you're about to customize and click at the Layout/Design button. By doing so, you will enter the Layout of your blog template.

3. Edit HTML
In the new page of Layout/Design, there are 3 main sub-tab, such as Page Element, Edit HTML and Template Designer. Now go to the sub-tab Edit HTML to begin editing the whole template codes of your blog.

4.Check Mark Expand Widgets
After landing to Edit HTML page, you can see in the top position of HTML codes, there is a small box that can be ticked called Expand Widget Template, now click at that small box. By giving a check mark, Blogger will automatically generate you the full version code of your blog widgets.

5. Find the code
By pressing the Ctrl + F button at the same time, you will enter the search/find mode. Now find this code below. Just block the code below using the mouse cursor and then put it in the search mode.
<b:include data='post' name='post'/>

6. Replace the code
After finding that code on number 5, now what you need to do is to replace the code on number 5 with the codes below:
<b:if cond='data:blog.homepageUrl!= data:blog.url'>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != "item"'>
<h3 class='post-title'><a expr:href='data:post.url'><data:post.title/></a></h3>
<b:else/>
<b:include data='post' name='post'/>
</b:if>
<b:else/>
<b:include data='post' name='post'/>
</b:if>

7. Save the current change
By pressing the Save Template button, now save the current change you've just made on your blog template. As you can see the actual result directly to your blog, the body content of article will disappear from the archive and label page, and only blogger post title will appear on the page.

Okay, that's it for this tutorial about hiding body content and only show blogger post title on archive and label pages. Are you having any trouble on applying this tutorial on your blog? Don't be shy, just leave your question on the comment section below. I'll try my best effort on helping you with your problem.
