Hi Bloggy readers,
Adding header logo to our blog is one of the most important thing to do if we want our blog to look more professional than just some personal journal. I remembered when i was blogging for the first time in my life, my first blog was Gamelidz, and i didn't use a header logo on my blog. I remembered using this blog title below on my header logo:
Gamelidz provides free mobile games and iPhone news"
Yeah. That is the tag line i chose for my Gamelidz blog (Now, that title has been changed to "All About iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad Newest Games and Apps"). So if right now, you experience the same thing with me when we were totally blank to fill the blog header with something, now let's create a header logo for our blog.
First phase: Designing a header logo on CoolText.com
1. Finding the website that provides logo designing
There are many websites that provide this header logo designing service. But, in this post, i am only gonna tell you 1 of those websites. Cooltext is one of websites that provides the service on designing header logo. Okay, now go check that website.
2. Pressing the chosen logo
As you can see in the CoolText website, you will be presented with many variety of logos. Now scroll down the entire header logos and pick one of them if you feel that the header logo you've chosen is suitable with your blog header. Now press the header logo you've chosen. By doing so, you will be prompted with a new window regarding the configurations of the logo you've already picked.
3. Configuring the logo
After landing to the new page contains the logo configurations, these are the basic configuration you can make.
- In the Text logo, write the words that you want to use for the header logo. For example : "WhatMakesBlog"
- In the Text Font and Size, you can pick the best font style also size that will fit to your blog or website. For example : 50 and the Font type can be generated by pressing the current font button. By doing so, you will be prompted with many kinds of fonts in the new window. Pressing one of those fonts will automatically bring you back to the logo configuration.
- In the Text color, pick a color combination to your header logo color. In this section, you can also use the Gradient Fill or Colors Combination that can give a great and professional look than just using a normal color.
- In the File Format, pick the picture format. Choose JPG or GIF. As my previous article regarding the best image format that can produce the high quality image, i strongly suggest you to pick PNG as the format of the header logo you are about to create.
4. Rendering the Logo
At the bottom position of the header logo configuration, you can see the button Render Logo, now press that button if you feel that the header logo you've already customized suits you well. By pressing the Render Logo button, CoolText will automatically process the header logo you've already created as a final package, PNG formatted image. Anyway, if that the logo you've already created is not good enough, by pressing the button Edit Logo, you will be prompted back to the header logo configuration.
5. Downloading the Logo
If the rendering process is finished, now you can pick the header logo you've created by pressing the button Download the logo and then save it to your computer. I suggest you to save that logo to the Desktop, so it makes it easier for you to find that image later.
Second phase: Uploading the header logo
1. Uploading the logo
After finished downloading the header logo and putting to the computer Desktop, now we have another task to do, and that is to upload that header logo to the image hosting site so later, we can embed that logo to our blog. There are lots of image hosting sites on internet these days that provide competitive services. But, if you don't want to bother with reduction of the bandwidth, i suggest you to upload that logo you've already made into one of your Blogger blogs.
2. Getting the URL address of the uploaded logo
After uploading the logo to your Blogger blog or any upload host, you will be able to get the URL address for that picture, by heading to the real source of image and then press the right click of mouse cursor, and press Copy Image Location. After that, put the URL address of that uploaded logo to the Notepad.
For example:
1. Login to Blogger
To begin this tutorial, now go to Blogger.com and Log in to your Blogger account.
2. Go to Page Element
In the Dashboard page, now press the button Layout/Design on your chosen blog..
3. Click Edit button on the blog header element
In Page Element tab, as you can see on the header widget of your blog, there is a button Edit in the bottom position. Now press that Edit button and by doing so, you will be prompted with a new small window. Now in the option Image, give a tick at the option From the Web. And then fill the http:// blank box using the URL address you've already saved in the Notepad. By filling the http:// field with the URL address of the uploaded logo, Blogger will process the image on the screen. If you want the header logo to be shown as a small version, give a tick at the option Shrink to Fit. By doing so, your logo image will be compressed into the small version.
4. Save the change
Now press the Save button to save the current change you've just made on your own header logo for your blog.
