What is Blog, How it Works, and What's the Difference Between Blog and Website?

As many of you know that in the past, blog or weblog has been widely used by many people especially as a platform to write their individual opinions regarding the social phenomenons around the world. Now, blog has become the most efficient business empire that can produce lots of money and benefits for the bloggers and internet entrepreneurs.

So, i am here at Whatmakesblog.com really happy to bring you all everything about blogging tips and tricks, free blog templates and the simple but useful tutorials about how to redesign your personal blog into a professional website that hopefully in the future, can be utilized to make money. Okay, that's enough about the introduction, now proceed to the main purpose of this article, explaining to you about what exactly is a blog.


Anyway, before explaining to you about what blog really is, i want to tell you first that in this blog, i am using Google weblog service, Blogger or Blogspot from Google in this tutorial. But, maybe in the future, you may see that this topic can further be expanded as long as the topic is still in the blogging area. Okay, as i told you in the beginning, i want to explain and describe to you with my very simple words about what blog really is?

In my personal opinion, blog is a simple version of website where the blogger can make an update content in very easy way without getting to much HTML programming skills. In blogging, the skill that we must master at, is a skill of writing. Blogging is about writing, writing and writing, and you are the author of your blog. So, if writing is not the area of your expertise, well then, you must learn this well as a basic tool on blogging.


As a beginner, we usually do a research in order to choose between website, or blog as a platform to enter the field of internet business. So, if you are curious about what is the differences between website and blog, let me give the answer with my own opinion.


Firstly, let me begin with website. In making a website, we have to prepare all the elements to make our website works perfectly. We have to prepare the index or homepage (which needs to be updated regularly), the sub pages, the pictures, the CSS styles, and other elements, that later will support the website itself. And not to mention that after we finished the making and designing of website, we need to upload it to the server, so it can be accessed by the people through internet, and that costs a money monthly or yearly, it's like you rent a house and fill it with your own stuff and pay for the rent monthly or annually both for hosting the files and domain name as well.


Bloggers don't need all the HTML programming skills, we are served by the blog provider, the simple way to use the HTML codes with the user-friendly interface. What i meant as a user-friendly interface is, if we want to create a post, we are served with all the HTML buttons (look at the picture below), and that makes it easier for us to make some of the important HTML functions in our written article.

And the other part is, it is easier for Bloggers to update the homepage by simply making a new post. And that what makes blog and website different. In website, if we want to update a new post, we have to edit it through the index or homepage.
