Hi bloggy readers,
Feedburner email subscription service has become one of the best and powerful gadgets in building a great and structured email list. By embedding this widget on your blog, will make it easier for you in collecting email addresses from the readers. On the other side, FeedBurner email subscription service also provides the readers an easy subscription feature where they can easily enter their email addresses to begin receiving updates from your blog. Once you understand the function of this tool, you will know how powerful this widget for your blogging journey.

Anyway, have you ever known that having a lot of subscribers to our daily posts can give a big and also positive impact for us. I can explain that after making a new post on our blog, that post will be automatically sent into the server (FeedBurner email subscription service) and continued by spreading out the post to the subscribers via email, and then they will read that post (half or full version) directly from their email inbox. So if later, they found it interesting to read, they can easily visit your blog through the URL address that has been provided together with the email. That's why, having an email subscription widget can help you gain a huge amount of traffic in a blink of an eye.

Okay, if you are interested on adding a Feedburner subscription service widget to your blog, now follow the steps below to find out how.

1. Go to FeedBurner

Now, go the Feedburner email subscription service website. First things first, you must Sign Up to Feedburner before using its service. If you already have an account on Google, say, Gmai, you can directly log in to the Feedburner account with the same username and password, well, Google owns Feedburner though.

2. Insert your Blog Feed URL address
In the Feed Burner account, now insert the URL address of your blog RSS feed inside the box under the option Burn a feed right this instant. And then click Next. For example, my blog RSS feed address should be http://www.whatmakesblog.com/feeds/posts/default. You can easily change the URL address www.whatmakesblog.com by using your own URL address. If you like making video or podcast on your blog, you can give a tick at the option I am a Podcaster, because of course, you are podcaster though.

3. Set up the length of your blog updates
Feedburner will ask you to set the length of your blog updates. The first or default mode is Atom Feed for Blogger which can be set to: Long post, Short or The Headline of your blog updates. So, if you choose Short Post in this mode, every time you make a new post, your blog subscribers will only see the cut version of your new article, which is good in increasing the number of pageviews.

4. Name the subscription
After setting up the length mode of your blog updates, now you can customize the Feed Title and also the Feed address.

In the Feed Title, try to use your blog name, for example "Tutorial for Bloggers - Whatmakesblog.com".
And in the Feed Address form, name it as "Whatmakesblog" which later, will be used on the URL address of your Feedburner subscription service account (http://feeds.feedburner.com/The Feed Address). Now press the Next button.

5. Press Next twice
After pushing the Next button, you will be brought to the new page saying "Congrats! Your FeedBurner feed is now live. Want to dress it up a little?". Now press Next again.

By doing so, you will be brought again to the new page saying "Get More Gusto From Your Feed Traffic Statistics". In this new page, you will be able to set up regarding the statistic of the Feed Burner Subscription you're about to embed. Now press the Next button again to finish the configuration of your Feed Burner subscription service.

As you can see in the new page, your new FeedBurner subscription account has been successfully created on your FeedBurner subscription service account. Well, you're not finished yet guys. Proceed!

6. Go to Publicize
On the upper navigation in your FeedBurner subscription service account, there are 5 tabs that can be switched, such as Analyze, Optimize, Publicize, Monetize, and Troubleshootize. Now click Publicize and on the left drop-down navigation, click Email subscriptions offer updates via email. In this area, you will be prompted to begin activating this email subscription service. Now click the Activate button. You will be generated with the code snippet that later can be embedded to your blog.

7. Get the generated widget code from Feed Burner
Now you can get the widget code or adding the FeedBurner by logging in through your Blogger account. I prefer using the widget code and copy it to Notepad and then paste it to "HTML/javascript" in Page Element tab.

Note: Anyway, in your Feedburner subscription service account, you can also get another features such as Chiclet chooser to count the number of subscribers of your blog. But if the number of your blog subscriber is still small, i suggest you to not use this feature.

Okay, that's it for this tutorial. If you're having a trouble in executing all the steps above, or maybe, you face an obstacle in installing the widget, just leave your question here, let's see if i can give you an assistance.

Good luck bloggers!
