3 Blogger Errors or Mistakes We Must Avoid as a Newbie Blogger

Hi bloggy readers,
It became a customary thing if someone did mistakes, especially as a newbie blogger. As an aphorism said that no one's ever born perfect, there's always a mistake by mistake we've done in our history in blogosphere as the process of blog learning and experience gaining. So it's okay if you did errors or mistakes, cause i did too, but it would be great if we could know it earlier and avoid of doing the same errors or mistakes as many bloggers did.

Anyway, these are the basic mistakes we must avoid as a blogger which i gathered from other trustful information and also my personal experiences i gained in the past. But after all, there's always a room of improvement for us.

1. Copying & Pasting Articles

Many bloggers in the world, mostly, will always begin their journey in blogosphere with duplicate contents in order to get to know with how blog works. It's normal because we, as a newbie, will need a process to learn how to blog. I personally, need about 2 until 4 months to understand with how blog works, from posting articles, changing templates, and knowing about CSS and HTML language.

I knew blog from my friend named Sugraha, who suggested me to use blog instead of website as a platform to enter the field of internet, and i must thank him for such a generous suggestion, because i'm not even regret to use blog than a static website to begin my journey as an internet entrepreneur.

Anyway, at the first time, i did duplicate someone's contents as my first articles in my first blog, but i always put the source address of that contents, avoiding copyright infringement. Do you want to know what result i got after duplicated those contents in my blog? I never got a traffic from Google or any other search engine after 7 months keeping those duplicate articles in my blog archive, even a single one. Google never respected blog or website with duplicate contents in it or used to be called as splog. Their searching process always priors to the original contents, not the duplicate ones, and i must say that Google is too smart to be fooled by human being.

And after realized that what i did was wrong, i decided to not duplicate someone's contents anymore, i only use those articles as a sources of information and references to write a new original post. And the result was fantastic, i always got a significant amount of unique visitors per day for that original articles i wrote. So i suggest you for not duplicating someone's articles in your blog, just write it yourself. Trust me, you will reap many benefits in the future to come.

2. Not Backing Up Blog Posts

I recently read an articles from professional blogger named Yaro Starak (who i always mentioned in my previous posts). He said in one of his articles that his friend named A (sorry, i forgot his name) made a few blogs using Google Blogger service as a platform. But few months later, he found his blog got suspended by Blogger for violating the term of service when using Blogger service. He was accused for making splogs, or spam blogs. But in this case, he did one mistake, and the real mistake was, he never made a back up for all of his blog posts, therefore, he must be willing to sacrifice his blogs to be blatantly removed by Blogger.

So the message i want to tell you is, from now on, you must save all of your blog posts, just in case if someday, Google suspend your Blogger account for some reasons. So you still have the back up posts, and can be re-posted again whether in Blogger blog or Wordpress machine. But if you don't know exactly how to back up your blog post, just read my previous post called - How to Backing Up Blog Posts?

What are you waiting for, hurry back up your blog before Google suspends your Blogger Account.

3. Using Google ID Instead of URL Address on Blog Comments

Another mistake i found and experienced as a newbie is, i always used my Google ID in the comment form instead of my blog URL address, maybe because i didn't want to bother myself to type my blog URL address over and over again in the comment box of Blogger. Do you understand with what i'm talking about? Okay, let me explain to you more thoroughly so you can catch what i am trying to say.

Do you know that if we post our comment on someone's blogs, we will always need to enter: our name, our email address, and the most important thing, our blog URL address. In the comment section from Blogger service, we are provided with the options to use our Google ID, our name and URL address, our Life Journal ID, and so on, that later, will be used as a link to our blog.

Obviously, if we are newbie, we will pick our Blogger ID as our name in the comments we've written on other blogs, because if we stay logged in on our Blogger account, our Google ID will be shown in the first option, besides, we dont need re-enter our name and our blog URL address in the comment box.

I already told you that, in order to get our blog Pagerank enhanced, we need someone to link back to our blog through the link from other blogs, so if we use our Google Blogger ID instead of our blog URL address as a link name, it will lead visitors to go to our Blogger profile, not our blog. And that's such an in vain activity. So i suggest you, starting from now, to always type your blog URL address as a link name in the comment you've written on someone's blogs.

So those are the basic mistakes i found in my experience of blogging and i really hope that you will avoid those same mistakes i already did in the past. Okay then, hope this information can be valuable for your blogging journey in the future.

Good luck bloggers!

Yeah, it's fine if you want to use someone's contents and then modify it into your blog, but i think Google will much appreciate blogger with original contents, besides those original contents will be well ranked on SERP than the duplicate one. i suggest you to use someone's posts as a reference to write the original post instead of copying it. Thanks anyway @AYIE and Zeyrules for the useful comments
