As a template designer, one of the most common problems that we usually face when designing blog template is how to make a clean image that later can be applied to our blog. It always causes me a headache when seeing that, the preview of my finished template is not well designed, especially on the header position. The picture i’ve created for the header always looks dirty if i zoom at certain position, usually on the corner side. So what is the best image file formats that can produce such a clean image?
Anyway, in my previous article mentioning about
How to make decent rounded rectangle image,
I already give you my trick on making a round cornered image using Paintbrush. Actually, in that post i forgot to tell you the last but also important part to finish that tutorial, and that is to choose the best image file formats.
JPG or PNG?
When saving our edited image, we are given the choices of what image file formats we want to pick to that image (JPEG, GIF, TIFF and PNG). Usually, we always picked JPEG as the best image file formats when finished editing the picture. We always think that JPEG can give the cleanest image without any defection. But, do you know that, actually, JPEG is not the best image file formats especially if we intend to use that picture in some specific condition, such as web designing.
JPEG will always produce the compressed version of our finished image. So, when we have finished editing the picture, and choose JPEG as the image file formats, our computer will automatically compress that image to the smaller size of data volume. Hence, will also compress the quality of the image itself.
In web designing, dirty and defected images cannot be tolerated if we want to make that template as the final product. In a real life, it also goes the same like that. If we are working at the company that produces tangible products (goods). We all know that all defected products will be thrown away to the garbage, because companies are prohibited to sell defected products for the customers. Duh!!
So what is the best image file formats that produces the cleanest image?
So to solve this problem, i suggest you to pick PNG as the best image file formats for your creation image. Although the volume size of that picture will be bigger than in JPEG format, the quality of picture will be much better and cleaner than in JPEG format. To prove what i said in this post, i will give you 2 examples of images, which one of them is saved as JPEG image file formats, and the other one is saved as PNG format. Look at the picture below!

That's why through this article, i strongly suggest you to choose the PNG as the best image file formats in order to make a clean and decent image.
What do you think about picking PNG as the final and best image file formats? Do you agree with me regarding this matter, or you don't? Feel free to hear your opinion then. Just leave your comment below, so we can further talk about it.
